Abstract

593,813. Epicyclic toothed - gearing. GRODZINSKI, P. April 3, 1945, No. 8161. [Class 80(i)] An epicyclic gear mechanism for giving a cyclically varying speed ratio employs circular eccentric gears of the type described in Specification 561,067 having an eccentricity between 0.05 and 0.1 of the radius of the gears. As shown, a driving shaft 6 has secured to it a carrier 8 which supports two planet pinions 16, 17 on a spindle 15. The planet 17 gears with a sun wheel 18 secured to the driving shaft 19 whilst the planet 16 gears with a sun wheel 10 on a sleeve 9 concentric with the driving shaft 6. One or both of the pairs of gears 10, 16 and 17, 18 are circular eccentric gears as indicated in Fig. 3 of an eccentricity between 0.05 and 0.1 of the radius of the gears. The sun wheel 10 is either held stationary to give a cyclic variation of the speed of the driven shaft 19 due to the eccentricity of the gears alone or it may be rotated at a constant or variable speed to further modify the velocity ratio between the shafts 6 and 19.
