[Class 135] A device for controlling the supply of liquid fuel from a pump to prime mover comprises a valve in a byepass passage connecting the pump inlet and outlet actuated by fluid pressure as under the control of a leak-off valve. As shown in the Figure, a pipe 67 connecting a sump to the pump inlet and a pipe 69 connecting the pump delivery to the prime mover pass through a chamber formed in a casing 68. The two pipes are connected by a byepass passage comprising ports 74, 81 and passages 73, 80 and controlled by a valve 78 mounted on a spring loaded diaphragm 70. The chamber 72 beneath the diaphragm is connected to the chamber 71 above the diaphragm by a passage 75 fitted with an adjustable restriction 76 and by a passage 75' to a leak-off orifice 87 controlled by a valve 88. This valve is loaded by a spring 89 and is actuated by a diaphragm adjustably loaded by a spring 91. A pump driven by the prime mover to deliver a pressure dependent on the speed of the prime mover is connected to a port 90 so that as the speed of the prime mover reaches a desired value the valve 88 is opened to vent the chamber 72 and open the valve 78 and so reduce the supply of fuel to the prime mover. In a modification, the valve 88 is actuated by a barometric capsule subject to atmospheric or induction pipe pressure. The barometric capsule is connected to the valve spindle by a pair of rollers connected by an adjustable roller.
