Abstract
574,960. Admission devices for extra air. BERHOUDAR, O. V., and SANDER, A. O. E. May 12, 1944, No. 9148. [Class 7 (ii)] In a fitting arranged between the carburetter 1 and the inlet manifold 15 for supplying auxiliary air, which enters by a pipe 7, the supply is admitted by a valve 14 actuated by suction in the throat of the venturi 3 in the carburetter operating, as shown, through a diaphragm 18 in a chamber 19 communicating at one side with the throat of the venturi. The air, which may be drawn from the crankcase, is admitted through an annular chamber 9 in the fitting and tangential passages 12 in the inner wall 10 of the chamber. A second diaphragm 22 in a chamber 23 communicating with the induction pipe above the throttle may be provided to close the valve 14. In a modification, the diaphragm 18 is actuated by the pressure in the exhaust pipe.
