Abstract

591,843. Check lift valves. JENNINGS, H. W. K. (Electrol, Inc.). March 23, 1945, No. 7433. [Class 135] The closure member 26 of a check valve has a flat face, the periphery of which extends partially across and seats on a toroidal ring 33 of rubber, &c., the latter being housed in, and normally projecting from, a groove surrounding a valve seating formed at the end of one of the passages 13 leading into the valve casing. The valve casing is in two parts 10, 17 screwed together, and the closure member 26 is urged to the closed position by a spring 29 surrounding the valve stem and situated between the member 26 and a spider 23 formed in the casing part 17. Packing 10a is housed in opposed grooves in the two parts of the casing.
