Abstract

567,067. Tiled or slated roofs. JEPSON, N. C. Feb. 16, 1943, No. 2577. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] Tiles or slates M on roofs or walls are supported on under-sheets A having ribs or battens B, C on both sides, those on one side being at right angles to those on the other side. The sheet rests on purlins or rafters, and the ribs on the upper side engage the tiles. The sheets may be a composition of sawdust and synthetic resin and may contain expanded metal reinforcement. The ends of the sheets may be rebated as at b<1>, b<2> to fit the adjoining sheets. Drainage holes b<3> are provided in the ribs. In Fig. 5, the sheets are supported on purlins J, K, or they may be supported on rafters. The ribs may be of channel section to receive a strip of wood or other material to which the tiles can be nailed. Specification 500,398 is referred to.
