Abstract

569,438. Panel coverings for roofs and walls. ENFIELD ROLLING MILLS, Ltd., and STUBBS, R. L. Sept. 2, 1943, No. 14369. [Class 20 (iv)] Weatherproof panels for roofs, walls &c. consists of sheet-metal coverings 2 glued or otherwise secured to one surface of sheets of plywood, asbestos, cement, plaster-board, or the like 1, and provided with edges bent into inverted channels 3, 4 adapted to be overlapped. The overlapped channels may be reinforced by a T-shaped member 8 secured to and beneath the sheets 1 and bent to form a channel lying within them. The edges of the outer channels and of the inner reinforcing channels may be inwardly bent into contact with the inner channels and sheets 1. At the ridge the edges of the sheets may be covered with saddles or rolled, one over the other. Hook bolts with arcuate washers 20 are used to secure the panels to the purlins 15. Shaped metal strips may be joined to the sheets at the eaves or the coverings 2 may be shaped to prevent weather penetration.
