574,717. Roof and wall slabs. SYMONS, R. J. and NICHOLSON, G. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21473. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] A panel of asbestos cement, concrete, plastic or sheet metal for covering roofs or walls is formed with a stepped and grooved surface resembling that of roofing &c. with tiles, the first or upper course being deeper than the others to permit an upper panel to overlap. The panels have plain margins 2 with thickened border ribs 8 on the underside and the panel shown in Fig. 4 is used to complete the surface at the joint between two main panels. In another form this is dispensed with, the stepped surface extending to the side edges. Channelled elements shaped to receive the abutting ribs of adjacent panels are supported on the roof purlins and act as gutters to drain away any water seeping through the joints.
