Abstract

536,864. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK CO., Ltd. May 7, 1940, No 8202. Convention date, June 13. 1939, [Class 80 (ii)] In a friction clutch in which a driven plate 13 is clutched between a driving member 11 and a pressure plate 12 the latter is secured to a cover 10 by flexible links 19 arranged chordal to a circumference about the clutch axis. The links are accommodated in ventilating openings 24 formed between arched regions 25 of the cover and the driving member 11. The securing rivets 22, 23 for the links 19 are arranged so that the end parts of the links are beyond the peripheral outline of the friction faces. The links may be initally shaped so that when in place they tend to separate the friction faces, In a modification the links 19a, Fig. 4, are arranged at an angle to the friction faces so that the driving torque will produce a clutch engaging pressure. The securing means for the links are arranged so that the pressure plate has an uninterrupted friction surface.
