Abstract

1,060,165. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. July 21, 1965 [Aug. 25. 1964], No. 34663/64. Heading F2C. A motor-cycle diaphragm spring engaged friction clutch comprises a driven clutch plate 9, secured to a freely mounted hub 11 formed with a final drive sprocket 13, disposed between a driving clutch plate 3, secured on a tapered end of a driving shaft 5, and a pressure plate 2 formed by an annular end wall of a casing 1 surrounding the driven and driving clutch plates 9, 3 the latter of which is formed with peripheral dogs 7 so as to be jointly rotatable with but axially slidable relative to the casing 1, the diaphragm spring 14 acting between a fulcrum ring 15 supported against the driving plate 3 and an annular rib 16 on a cover plate 17 closing the open end of the casing and retained by a spring ring 19. Clutch disengagement is effected by a conventional release bearing 20 acting through the cover plate 17.
