Abstract

1,126,911. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 7 March, 1966 [18 March, 1965], No. 11581/65. Heading F2C. In a friction clutch having a driven plate (not shown) engaged between a driving flywheel (not shown) and a presser plate (not shown) by a diaphragm spring 2, the usual fulcrum rings, arranged one each side of the diaphragm spring on spacer rivets secured to the clutch housing, are replaced by forming the heads of the spacer rivets 3 and the clutch housing 1 with shaped concentric abutments 9 and 4 respectively serving as fulcrum points for the diaphragm spring. The heads 8 of the spacer rivets 3 are rectangular and have a triangular cross-section forming the fulcrum nose 9 and the fulcrum abutments 4 of the clutch housing are spaced arcuate dimples half-round in section. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the nose 9 and dimple abutments 4 are coincident with the pitch diameter of the spacer rivets, whilst in Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), they are offset radially in relation thereto.
