535,823. Spring supports for pipes. GENERAL SPRING CORPORATION. Oct. 18, 1939. No. 28186 and 28187. Convention dates, Dec. 10, 1938 and Feb. 13, 1939. [Class 99(ii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A resilient support for pipe lines includes one or more springs having a variable load/ deflection rate. In one form, Fig. 1, a web 2 on the pipe is connected by horizontal spring units 4, 5 and by a vertical unit 6 to the fixed support 3. Each unit comprises a cylinder 20 having restricted openings, a piston 22, rods 21, 23 connected by ball-and-socket joints to web and support, and a spring 30 of graduated pitch of which the convolutions come successively into contact. The unit 6 has an additional spring 33. In another form two variable-pitch springs 37, Fig. 6, are mounted between anchor plates 7 and discs 15 secured to the pipe web 2. Friction plates 11 resiliently secured to the anchor plates frictionally engage the web.
