474,008. Springs combined with mechanism. GEAIRNS, A. J. E. Oct. 2, 1936, No. 26711. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A flexible pipe support, for applying a constant supporting force to a pipe within a predetermined and limited movement of the latter caused by expansion and contraction, comprises a bracket 1 provided with a suspension bolt 10 and formed of two spaced plates 1a between which is located, by means of a spindle 3, an eccentrically-mounted pulley &c. 2 guiding a flexible band or chain 4, the chain being connected at one end to a spring or springs 5 and at the other end by a turnbuckle 7 to the pipe to be supported. The band 4 may be fixed to the pulley ; alternatively, two bands, each fixed to the pulley and passing therearound in opposite directions may be used, one being connected to the spring and the other to the pipe. The support is preferably provided with a band guiding pulley 6 and a fitting 8 for supporting the pipe in case of breakage of the band. A projection 9 may also be provided on the pulley for limiting rotation of the latter in the event of the spring breaking.
