Abstract

528,497. Metal-working presses. GLASNER, R. W. May 9, 1939, No. 13796. [Class 83 (iv)] In a press in which a slide 13 is movable between uprights 11, power is imparted to the slide from a driving-shaft 36 through actuating- means within the hollow interior of the uprights 11. The driving-shaft 36 is geared to eccentrics 17 mounted on fixed shafts 15 and fitted with straps18 pivoted to members 20 secured to the slide 13 through screws 26 for adjusting the position of stroke of the slide. The screws 26 are coupled by bevel gears to a shaft 44 which is coupled by a reduction gear to a motor 48 or is fitted with pawl and ratchet gear for manual operation. The shaft carries a loose driving-pulley 35 and a combined clutch and brake mechanism 41.
