Abstract

493,053. Metal - working press. GLASNER, R. W. March 30, 1937, No. 8988. [Class 83 (iv)] A metal-working press comprises front and rear plates 10, 11, end walls if required, and uprights all secured together by welding. The driving shaft 36 is mounted between the plates 10, 11 and is driven from a motor through belt gearing and transmits motion through gearing 37, 38, 41 to shafts 39, 42 and thereby by corresponding gearing to toothed wheels 26. On the wheels 26 eccentrics are mounted and transmit the power to the slide 20. The working thrusts of the press applied to the bearings are concentrated in the planes of the walls. Supports 13 on the front plate supports a bolster 14 carrying a die 15 with work holder 16 supported by pins 17 resting on a cushioning device 19.
