[Class 83 (iv)] In a cupping-press comprising a series of punching and forming dies and a rotatable apertured plate by which the blanks,are carried from one forming die to another, the said plate is integral and coaxial with a control plate having peripheral notches equal in number to the number of forming-dies and being intermittently rotated by a roller on a continuously rotated toothed wheel and being locked in each working position. The press comprises two slides 14 reciprocated within guides 15, secured to a platform 3, by means of a crankshaft 10 and connecting rods 12. These slides are connected by means of members 17 to a plate 18 to the underside of which are secured the series of upper dies which, when reciprocated pass through an apertured work-transferring plate 19 to co-operate with a series of fixed dies. Beneath the lower dies is a control plate 35 integral with the plate 19, having peripheral notches 37 equal in number to the number of dies and being intermittently rotated by a roller 38 adapted to enter the notches 37. The roller is secured to a toothed wheel 40 driven from the main shaft of the machine through a shaft 22 and gears 21, 20, 42 and 41. After each movement of the plates 19 and 35, the plate 35 is locked by a second roller 49 on an arm 46 actuated by a cam 44 keyed to the gear 42. Outside the main framework of the machine is a stamp 34 reciprocated from the shaft 10 and adapted to blank-out and pre-shape the work-pieces before they are transferred to the plate 19.
