Abstract

514,278. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 29, 1938, No. 12873. Convention date, April 29, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] A fusible electric cut-out comprises a cartridge body a having a longitudinal bore b of rectangular, oval, or other elongated cross-section, and a fuse unit comprising a fuse element c secured to terminal contacts d which carry plates e shaped to conform with the cross-section of the bore b. The fuse unit is assembled before it is threaded through the bore. Rotation of the unit then prevents withdrawal. The plates e are accommodated in recesses at the end of the cartridge body and the unit is secured in position by packing discs f of asbestos, cover plates g and screws h. An indicating device may be provided as at i in the thick part of the cartridge wall. The terminal contacts may consist of flat end plates instead of knife contacts.
