Abstract
492,997. Electric cut - outs. SYKES & DYSON, Ltd., SYKES, P., and GRIFFITH, F. J. June 18, 1937, No. 16950. [Class 38 (i)] In an electric cut-out, the insulating handle c carrying the fuse element e is provided with a transversely-extending integral depending block c<3> which has an opening extending through it housing two parallel asbestos or equivalent tubes d. Alternatively, the block has two separate openings, each fitted with its own tube. The contact blades f are bent strips of metal, secured to the handle c by screws g<2>, and fitting into recesses in the contact blocks b on the fuse base a. The fuse wire e is led from one contact member through one of the asbestos tubes d, being then bent back upon itself through the other tube to the other contact member. Each screw g<2> securing a blade f to the handle, passes through a hole in the blade and engages a threaded opening in a plate g. The end of the fuse wire e is secured to the plate g by a screw h. The plate g may be integral with the handle.
