Abstract
517,153. Fusible cut-outs. MARSTON, G. S. and STATTER & CO., Ltd., J. G. Aug. 23, 1938, No. 24771. [Class 38 (i)] An insulating cover consisting of two identical parts 1 and 2 when fitted together grip contacts 5 and enclose a cavity 8 containing a fusible element 7 and spark quenching material which may be enclosed in a bag of cellulosic sheet material. If the cover is cylindrical its parts may be bound together with insulated wire; if rectangular the parts are screwed together. The contacts 5 are prevented from being blown out by shoulders 6 fitting in grooves in the parts 1 and 2. The fuse element may be integral with the contacts, or in the form of a wire, or a tube filled with non-inflammable substance and containing a fuse wire, or simply in the form of a tube without a wire. Several fuse elements, one of which can carry more current than the others, may be used. A signal plug 9 is blown out when the fuse blows.
