Abstract
501,261. Automatic control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 27, 1938, No. 28108. Convention date, Sept. 29, 1937. [Class 38 (iv)] Arcs.-The feeding speed of an arc welding electrode is varied according to the arc length by an auxiliary field winding 18 on the feeding motor 11. The winding 18 is connected across the arc. The motor may operate through a two-way clutch 13 controlled by a relay 17 subject to the arc voltage. To avoid excessive voltage on the auxiliary field winding an iron. hydrogen resistance may be included in its circuit.
