Abstract

481,786. Fuel injection; valve gear. AEROPLANI CAPRONI SOC. ANON., and FUSCALDO, O.April 19, 1937, No. 11186. Convention date, April 18, 1936. [Classes 7 (ii), 7 (iii), and 7 (vi)] A fuel-injection valve 7 is actuated by a solenoid 13 the energization of which is timed by a rotary contact device 21 having one or more contact surfaces 25, according to the number of cylinders, in permanent connection with a brush 28, and engaging during the rotation with a brush 29, both in the circuit of a battery 3. The contacts 25 are trapezoidal, so that the timing may be varied by axial adjustment of the rotating part 21. The fuel may be injected into the cylinder by a differential pump 31, 32 acted on by the pressure in the engine cylinder, the fuel being drawn from a tank 5 and forced through a passage 36 to the valve 7. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the fuel may be injected into the induction pipe at low pressure, and may be acetylene supplied from a steel cylinder through a pressure-reducer, This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
