[Class 102 (i)] In a fuel-injection pump, of the type in which the discharge is effected by an accumulator plunger 3 acted on by a spring 13, and takes place through a passage 15 and groove 9 in the plunger 2 to passages 5, 5<1> leading to the engine cylinder, the groove 9 is made oblique, and the timing of injection is varied by rotating the plunger crosshead 11 by means of a rack 10. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the edge of the plunger 2, which controls the inlet port 8, may also be made oblique, thus effecting simultaneous variation in the closing of the port 8. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
