Abstract

479,729. Tiled roofs. MAHADEVA, S. June 5, 1937, No. 15665. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] A tiled roof comprising a plurality of straight rows of alternately convex and concave tiles is arranged so that the concave tiles hook on to horizontal battens 20, Fig. 5, and the convex tiles hook on, at their upper ends, to the adjacent concave tiles. The concave tile is provided, as shown in Figs. 1 and 5, on its underface at the top with a lip 11 for hooking on to a batten 20, and with a U-shaped portion 12 which is substantially level with the underface of the tile and is adapted to engage a face 23 of the batten 20 to prevent rocking of the tile. The convex tile, Figs. 3 and 5, is provided with a flange 16 at the upper edge for engaging the cut-away corners 14 of the adjacent underlying concave tiles. Abutments 17, 18 on the underface of the convex tile contact with the long edges of the concave tiles, although such abutments are not essential. In order that each tile may fit at its lower end over the upper end of the tile next below, the concave tiles are wider at the upper end than at the lower end, and the convex tiles are wider at the lower end than at the upper end. The narrow lower ends of the concave tiles, being cut-away at 15, fit against the cut-away parts 19 of the convex tiles.
