Abstract

752,123. Glazing bar end stops. ROBINSON KING & BRITISH CHALLENGE GLAZING CO., Ltd., and WHITE, F. J. March 8, 1955 [March 9, 1954], No. 6877/54. Class 20(3). A glass stop, for a glazing bar having a web 10 with outwardly extending glasssupporting flanges 12 on either side, comprises a member 20 having a face for fitting against the end of the glazing bar and having a pair of hook form nibs 23, 24 extending from the face adapted to straddle the web 10 and to engage, by the hooks 26. in recesses or slots 27 in the glass supporting or other outwardly extending flanges 12 on the glazing bar. As shown, the glazing bar web 10 has a thickened upper edge 11 and thickened junction 13 with the flanges 12 to provide a section for pinning or bolting the bar to a shoe plate or the like. Such flange 12 has its outer edge turned up at 14 and formed with a groove for a flexible strip on which the glass 16 rests, and the flange 12 and edge 14 together form a dovetail for fitting with a shoe. The glass stop has the plate 20 of the shape shown, with parallel edges 22 extending just above the level of the glass 16 and with the bottom edge 21 cut away at 37 to provide escape for water in the channels of the bar. Each nib 23, 24 has a hook 26 to engage a slot 27 and a shoulder 28 to bear against the edge of the slot 27 to prevent tilting of the glass stop. As shown in Fig. 1, the stop is also provided with a third nib 25 at the top with a hook 30 for engagement with a recess 31 in the upper edge 11 and a pair of auxiliary nibs 32 which engage closely on either side of the web 10. As shown in Fig. 6, a third nib 35 centrally of the stop engages in a key way 36 in the web 10 and a pair of auxiliary nibs 38 engage on either side of the upper edge 11. In each case, the glass 16 lies above the nibs 23, 24 and therefore prevents removal of the glass stop while the glass is in position.
