Abstract

685,471. Roofs; tiles. NEUHOFER, W. Feb. 26, 1951 [March 4, 1950], No. 5518/50. Classes 20(iv) and 87(i) A roof comprises rows of main tiles 1, Fig. 5, having upstanding ribs 2 and 3 extending along their upper and side edges, and cover tiles 11, Fig. 8, having downwardly projecting ribs 12 and 13, the cover tiles being arranged over the joints between main tiles 1 in the direction of the slope of the roof as shown in Fig. 4, the side ribs 3 on the main tiles 1 being widened at their base 18 so that the ribs 13 on the cover tiles 11 lockingly engage with the ribs when slid into position. The main tiles 1 also have a downwardly projecting rib 10 along their upper edges which engages over a batten 9 and ribs 5 and 6 at the lower edge, the upper and lower edges of adjacent main tiles overlapping as shown in Fig. 3. In addition the cover tiles 11 are provided with an upstanding rib 14 along their upper edges to engage with the rib 13 of an adjacent and overlapping cover tile and also with extensions 7 of the ribs 12 which fit in recesses 8 in the lower edges of the main tiles. Packing strips 15 and 16 may be employed to render the joints completely watertight.
