Abstract

464,639. Hydraulic transmission of power. WADE, J. T. Oct. 21, 1935, No. 29028. [Class 69 (ii)] Hydraulic transmission means comprise a turbine wheel with a pair of blade rings 8, 9 dividing a casing into chambers 10, 11, the chamber 10 having guide vanes 12 directing liquid to the outer ring 8 and the chamber 11 having guide vanes 13 directing liquid to the inner ring 9. The blades of the outer ring are more closely spaced than those of the inner ring, and an auxiliary chamber is provided for collecting leakage. A scoop tube 16 for returning leakage to the turbine wheel, an air vent 18, and a friction clutch 19, 20 are provided.
