Abstract
450,209. Vacuum producing injector apparatus. JAHN, A. R., 34, York Road, King's Cross, London. Jan. 21, 1936, No. 1967. [Class 71] A vacuum or reduced atmospheric pressure in a closed vessel or tubular system is obtained by arranging injectors in series in a passage communicating therewith, the direction of delivery of the first injector being at an angle to that of the second. The closed vessel 1 is connected to the injector A provided with a nozzle 3 supplied with steam from the pipe 6, and injector A is connected to injector B through a Venturi tube 10. Injector B has a nozzle 4 supplied with steam, which passes through a Venturi discharge 11 directly to the atmosphere or through a heating-system. The casings 2, 7 may each contain two or more nozzles. There may be two or more serial units for a given production of vacuum. A modified construction is described wherein the injector 7 is arranged horizontally, and the casings are connected by a right-angled, Venturi head. In.the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, the water vessel 22 is provided with a separate ejector C and a jet or surface condenser is arranged between the ejector and a connection to the reservoir 1 provided with the ejectors 3, 4 connected in series. The condensate from condenser 23 passes to the vessel 1. The vacuum in chamber 22 is reduced to nearly 30 ins. and the water temperature to 40‹ F. In vacuum drying apparatus, the ejector C may be dispensed with. Specification 395,957, [Group III], is referred to.
