Divided out of 424,995. [Class 47 (ii)] An apparatus for generating air foam comprises a chamber 1 provided with nozzles 2 arranged to discharge intersecting jets of foam-forming liquid and with a rear closure 11 through which air under pressure is supplied. The intersecting jets break up and form foam with the air. Foam-former may be added to the water supply to the nozzles 2, or supplied by an axial nozzle and tube 19. The compressed air is derived from a jet blower 9 supplied with water by jets 8, a pipe 7, and pump 5. The water is returned to the suction side of the pump by a pipe 13 with a float valve 16, 17.
