Abstract
322,721. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Sim, J. May 16, 1929. Air inducers.-In multi-stage steam-jet ejectors for discharging air from condensers, a surfacecondenser s and a direct-contact condenser e are arranged in series with a surface-condenser f adjacent the first stage steam-jet. The cooling- water of the first surface condenser s is delivered into the feed system by the pipe u. In the arrangement shown, the air, &c. from the condenser passes into the first ejector having a steam-jet a and combining nozzle b and from thence through a surface condenser f into the chamber of a direct-contact condenser e. The air and uncondensed vapour then passes through a second ejector c, d and a second surface condenser s into a chamber v. The air is discharged to the atmosphere and the liquid to the feed tank. The condensate from the main condenser is used as cooling fluid in the condensers f, s, a branch x passing to the nozzles of the condenser e the condensate of which passes to the main condenser. Similar arrangements may be adopted in a three-stage ejector system.
