[Class 102 (i)] [See also Group XI] In a fuel-injection pump for burners or internal - combustion engines, of the type in which the suction port f is controlled by the plunger and discharge takes place through an axial passage o and groove p in the plunger to the discharge passage g, the fuel being compressed in the chamber c until the groove p coincides with the passage g, the discharge of the pump is regulated by the back pressure in a discharge chamber h. The discharge pressure is regulated by varying the volume of the chamber c by means of a plunger p<1> adjustable by a nut q. The discharge from the chamber h to the nozzle m in the combustion chamber n may be controlled by a rotary valve i, which may be driven by the motor k driving the fan l which supplies air to the chamber n. The valve is formed with wedge-shaped ports s and the amount of discharge is regulated by moving the valve axially by means of a lever v, thus varying the time during which the discharge apertures r are uncovered.
