462,805. Speed governors. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R. July 25, 1936, Nos. 20608 and 20609. Convention dates, July 29, 1935 and Oct. 30, 1935. [Class 57] A spring-loaded piston 5 is connected to the rack 4 for controlling the output of a fuel injection pump 1 and the chamber 7 is connected by a pipe 9 to an air induction pipe 10 having a hand-operated throttle valve 12. During normal running the air flows in the direction of the arrow A. On unintentional reverse running of the engine the air flows in the direction of the arrow B and would cause excessive pressure to act in the chamber 7 resulting in the maximum fuel supply being delivered by the pump and prevent the lever 13 from moving the piston to reduce the fuel supply. A valve 15 is fitted and is actuated by a rod 17a to open the pipe 9 to atmosphere through the port 14 and close the connection between the pipe 9 and the induction pipe 10. In a modification, the port 14 is connected to the chamber 8 and the valve connects this chamber to the induction pipe. Fig. 3 shows the pipe 9 fitted with a valve 18 and the port 14 controlled by a spring-loaded valve 15b. Alternatively, the port 14 is connected to the chamber 8. The valve 18 may be omitted.
