Abstract

431,955. Reciprocating pumps. DEGORY, A., HAWKINS, R. S., and LIBOVITCH, C. J. H., (trading as ALAN & CO., D.), 18, South End, Kensington, London. May 10, 1934, No. 14125. [Class 102 (i)] Upper cylinder oil is delivered in predetermined quantities into the petrol tank of a motor cylinder by a trigger-operated pump or gun associated with and disposed externally of a container for the oil. Normally, the pump-piston is at the end of its stroke when the pump cylinder is empty. The pump has a barrel 1<a> in which is'mounted a spring-pressed piston 1 upon a rod connected to a trigger 2. A container 3 is supported in the gun between fixed plates 7 and its discharge outlet 5 is held in a socket 6 by a spring 14 which engages a flange 10 on a chamber 8 which embraces the end of the gun. An air-vent 25 controlled by a valve 26 and a spring-pressed suction ball valve 16 are provided in the socket 6, and a non-return delivery 19 is arranged in the nozzle 4. The nozzle, Fig. 1, is enclosed by a cap, and the inclined end of the handle 12 forms an acute angle parallel with the end of the trigger 2. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the body of the gun is provided with openings 33 and houses a glass container 28 which engages washers 34 secured by a cover plate 29 to which the handle 32 is secured. A slotted housing guides the trigger 36 which operates the piston 37. The container is filled through an aperture closed by a cap. A delivery valve is shown at 48, and a non-return suction valve at 42. In a further modification, the handle, pump barrel and oil container are arranged radially.
