Abstract
422,662. Sliding - clasp fastenings. WINTERHALTER, M., 23, Hohenstaufenstrasse, Barmen, Wuppertal, Germany. Feb. 12, 1934, Nos. 4589, 4590, and 4591. Convention dates, Feb. 10, 1933, March 3, 1933, and March 7, 1933. [Class 44] The slider of a sliding-clasp fastener consists of a single plate a and the usual wedge member b with the plate and wedge member shaped to engage with correspondingly shaped portions on two sides of the interlocking elements. The outer face of the elements may be covered with leather or fabric, or hidden by a flap. The upstanding side walls of the back plate and the wedge may have flanges d, e, engaging recesses f in the elements, Fig. 5, or may be inclined as shown in Fig. 8 to guide and support the dove-tail elements, or may be formed as shown in Fig. 15 with shoulders m<1> and recesses d' to engage the ends of the clamping legs m of the elements and the projections f<1> on the sides of the elements. The clamping legs lie obliquely and to permit the elements being used for both the stringer tapes the projections and recesses by which the elements are locked together are arranged in pairs on both the upper and lower faces as shown at s, Fig. 21. The slider shown in Fig. 25, has a chain pull t to withdraw a spring v which normally locks the slider by engaging the elements.
