[Class 44.] In sliding-clasp fastenings having flexible stringers 1, 2 carrying fastener elements 6, 7, a slider 5 having a divider neck 10 and convergent channels 14, 15, and end stops 16 for limiting movement of the slider in the gapclosing direction and adapted to be concealed in the channels in the closed position, each end stop is so shaped that in the closed position a portion of the lateral edge of the stop engages the side wall of the slider channel so as to oppose backward movement of the slider. The side walls of the channels 14, 15 are shaped to provide upper and lower cam surfaces 11, 12, the slider being thus waisted at a point 13. The end stops are formed from metal blanks folded to provide legs for gripping the stringers and present upper and lower cam portions 25, 26 diverging from a point 23. As the slider is pulled to close the gap, the end stops become wedged therein and lock it in position. After the point 13 passes the edge of the lower cam portion 26 the slider slips into position with a click. A final seating of the slider and end stops is effected with the lower ends of the stops projecting below the lower end of the slider. In order to facilitate the locking movement, the angle between the surfaces 25, 26 is less than that between the portions 11, 12. The lateral pressure between the end stops may be eased by forming them with complementary recesses 31.
