Abstract
378,482. Road-vehicle suspension. LJUNGSTRÍM, B., 83, Linnegatan, Stockholm. April 14, 1931, No. 11083. Convention date, March 5. [Class 108 (ii).] In a motor vehicle of the kind in which the wheels 2, 3, Figs. 1 and 2, are independently mounted on arms 8, 9 extending forwardly and rearwardly and rotatable about transverse bearings 6, 7 on the main frame, the transverse distance between the springs 16, 17 is substantially equal to the distance between the side frame members 1. The members 1 are spaced well apart and connected by two transverse members 4, 5 which also carry extensions located forwardly and rearwardly between the wheels. The outer end of each axle shaft 10, 11 has fixed to it one end of a quarterelliptic spring 16, 17 extending between the flanges of the frame members 1, the flanges being spaced wider apart towards the end to accommodate the springs. The arms and the axle shafts 10, 11 may be integral or may be built up. The steering swivels 12 of the front wheels may extend upwardly or downwardly. The side frames 1 may extend forwardly and rearwardly and may be arched over the wheels as shown in Fig. 4.
