Abstract

A magnetic steel principally martensitic in structure is obtained from an alloy steel containing over 6 per cent of chromium, 0,5-20 per cent of nickel and not more than 1 per cent of carbon, by alloying with the steel 2,5-8 per cent of aluminium, heating to 1750-2250 DEG F., and cooling.
