Abstract

Cast-iron alloys contain 4-8 per cent of silicon and 4-20 per cent of nickel, with or without up to 10 per cent of chromium. Ordinary amounts of manganese, and in some cases up to 2 per cent of aluminium, may also be present. The alloys may be annealed at 900-1000 DEG C. According to the Provisional Specification, the amount of manganese or aluminium may be up to 10 per cent. Specification 323,076, [Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.], is referred to.
