Abstract

Iron or steel alloys containing 0,1-8 per cent of silicon and 0,1-10 per cent of titanium and not more than 0,5 per cent of carbon are improved by cooling quickly or slowly from the casting temperature or in the case of reheating the alloy, from 700-1300 DEG C. and then tempering at 200-1000 DEG C. When the alloy has been heated to 700-1300 DEG C. the alloy may then be cooled very slowly instead of tempering. The alloys may also contain up to 25 per cent of manganese, up to 10 of chromium and up to 50 per cent of nickel. Specifications 352,964 and 375,777 are referred to.
