Convention date, Feb. 3. [Class 135.] Plug - cocks wedging or jamming.-A valve of the rotatable-plug type comprises a driving member 28, having a non-circular end engaging a similar recess 37 in one end of the tapered plug so that the plug can move axially relatively to the member 28 and the casing, and a pin 41 disposed within the member 28 for forcing the plug from its seating 12 against the action of a metal diaphragm 18. The pin may be forced against the plug by a screw 42. The diaphragm acts on the plug through a member 19 carrying a ball 22 which also serves as a central bearing. To withstand the thrust of the screw 42, a shoulder 34 on the member 28 bears on a projection 36 on the casing. In a modification adapted for liquids such as hot tar and pitch, a threaded connection is formed between the driving member and casing.
