Abstract

518,021. Valves. FORREST, H. Aug. 10, 1938. No. 23548 [Class 135] A valve device particularly adapted for incorporation in a "safety Tee" used for making branch connections to a gas main comprises a disc valve member universally pivoted to the end of an arm mounted for oscillation about an axis inclined to the plane of the valve seat. As shown in the Figure the valve casing f has a flanged end f adapted to be secured to flanged connections a shaped to fit against the side of a gas main b where it is secured by a clip c and bolts c<1>. The valve disc j has a central pair of lugs j' pivoted to the arm l by a pin passing through a flared hole in the arm and is held approximately in position to engage its seat by an extension n on the arm. The arm l is on a shaft m pivoted in a side recess in the casing to turn on an axis making say 10‹ with the normal to the plane of the seating. A further arm on the shaft is adapted to be secured by a T-headed bolt to either of two T-recessed lugs p on the casing whereby the valve may be secured in either the open or closed positions.
