9164. Fletcher, J. June 22. Lift valves.-A conical lift valve member fitted with an india - rubber anchor-ring valve face is constructed with a space behind the ring into which it is pressed when the valve is screwed down hard. The valve member 7 is provided with a tailpiece 9 rotatably mounted in the actuating-screw 4, and has a slightly undercut groove 16 adapted to receive the india-rubber ring 6. To facilitate the introduction of the ring, the valve member is divided on a plane passing through the groove into two parts adapted to be screwed together.
