Wedging or jamming.-To prevent binding, in plug cocks or valves for use with petrol &c., the plug member 2 is formed separately from the operating spindle 4 and, is connected thereto by one or more links 9 whereby on rotation it is lifted from its seating. Inward movement of the spindle 4 may be prevented by a thrust bearing member 11, or a compression spring 7 may be inserted between the plug and a head 5 formed on or secured to the spindle. The plug may beforced into its seating by the action of the spring or by reverse rotation of the spindle.
