345,442. Pit props. PARKER, J., 128, Stenhouse Street, Cowdenbeath, Fifeshire. Feb. 22, 1930, No. 5911. Addition to 320,098, [Class 20 (ii), Buildings and structures, Miscellaneous accessories &c.]. [Class 20 (ii).] An improvement in or modification. of the invention of the parent Specification comprises the use of a number of flat, non- slotted, non-tapered bars to form the sliding member, the number being varied according to the load to be carried. In one form the multiple members 1 of the sliding member are united by a clamp 3 with distance-pieces 2 between and are adapted to coact with multiple fixed plate members 10 supported on the cradle 8 which carries the clamping wedge 14 and cam 15. In a modifioation in which the lower member of the prop is tubular the cradle is supported by a bar 23 fixed to the tube and the plates 24 are dependent within the tube.
