407,803. Mine-roof supports. CLAYTON, G., 7, Elm Street, Aberbargoed, Monmouthshire. Jan. 11. 1933. No. 897. [Class 20 (ii).] The ends of mine - roof supports are connected together so as to provide a means for extension, and a series of sudden intermittent contractions when subjected to excessive loads. The foot of a metal section-bar prop B, or the end of a section-bar roof support is received in a sleeve A provided with a number of apertures C through which are passed abutment bolts against which the end of the prop member abuts in the sleeve. The bolts are sheared under excessive load to allow the prop or support to contract suddenly in successive stages.
