Abstract

330,117. Dawes, C. E., Collidge, A. E., Dawes, E. C., and Klinger Manufacturing Co., Ltd. May 15, 1929. Tension arrangements.- Two or more yarn-presser devices, of the type comprising two discs 10, 11 one at least of which is moved under spring pressure towards the other, are arranged in tandem or series for tensioning the yarn fed to a yarn-winding machine. The discs are of light-weight material or metal, and the pressure of each device is of fixed magnitude; variation in the tension applied to the yarn is dependent upon the number of presser devices through which the yarn is led. The discs are preferably arranged about a glass or other smooth sleeve 15, which is held in position by a spring 16. The spring 16 and a spring 13 for acting upon one of the discs are enclosed in a housing 19.
