Abstract

345,259. Tension-equalizing device for yarns in knitting and like operations. BREWER, F., 45, Kensington Road, Oldham. Dec. 14, 1929, No. 38347. [Class 74 (ii).] A device for equalizing the tension in two or more pairs of yarns comprises a number of units each consisting of a lever 5, Fig. 1, having yarn guides 6 at each end and pivoted at its centre to a flexible resilient support 8. The yarns are passed through the eyes 6, so that an increase in tension in one yarn rocks the lever and increases the tension in the other. The device is duplicated, as shown in Fig. 2, to equalize the tension in several pairs of yarns. Six yarns are guided in three such units suspended from the ends of three equally spaced radial arms, the whole being resiliently supported at its centre.
