Abstract

315,206. Thomas, D. J. April 5, 1928. Closure-members, dual. - In taps or valves wherein the valve spindle carries an auxiliary valve which comes. into action when the usual valve washer ceases to be effective, a cup-like member in which the washer is fitted is formed with a number of holes or notches regulating the flow of liquid as the valve is operated. The valve spindle 5 is integral with or carries the cup-like member 14 formed with notches 15 or apertures 22 and within which is located theusual valve-member 13 co-operating with a tubular seating-member 9. The auxiliary valve may comprise the pointed end 7 of the spindle, Fig. 1, a conical enlargement 17, Fig. 2, or a conical washer retained thereon by a nut.
