Abstract

Mine props are formed of telescoping tubular members a, c, the one c sliding in the other a, filling blocks of wood or similar resilient material e being placed in the outer member a between the sliding member c and the base of the outer member. The wooden blocks may be separated by metal discs f and marks may be made on the sliding member to indicate the degree of subsidence. A fine adjustment for height may be provided by a wedge h mounted in slots in the outer member and passed between bearing blocks g placed between the filling blocks.
