Valve gear.-In multicylinder engines haying fixed cylinders in line or in banks, a gear wheel e, mounted on an eccentric b on the crank or an auxiliary shaft a, engages with a fixed internallytoothed wheel f and has certain of its teeth g extended laterally to form cams which actuate plungers h in cylinders i so as to force oil or other fluid through pipes j leading to plungers actuating the several valves. Separate gear wheels e are provided for the inlet and exhaust valves. The supply of oil &c. is maintained by a pump k connected by a pipe m and non-return valves to each of the pipes j.
