Abstract

Valves.-A sleeve valve 7 is formed with a port 14 co-operating with a cylinder port 13, which is connected to inlet or exhaust passages 24, 25 by an oscillating valve 15, which comprises cylindrical end portions connected by a diametrical web 17, Fig. 5. In a modification, the sleeve valve 7', Fig. 2, works in the cylinder head. The valve, 15 may be slightly tape.red. Valve gear.-The sleeve valve 7, Fig. 1, and the valve 15 are actuated by rods connected to cranks on a half-speed shaft 9. The valve 7', Fig. 2, has an overhead connection 26, 31 to the shaft 9. A loose-fitting driving-connection for the valve 15, allowing slight movement for heat expansion, comprises a shaft 19, Fig. 6, passing axially through the valve and formed with arms 20 having holes 29 to receive bolts which are screwed into one end of the valve.
