Abstract

304,751. Junkers, H. Jan. 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Check lift valves; safety valves.-A non - return valve particularly adapted for use in the air supply pipes to carburettors for internal combustion engines used on air-craft, has a cap-like valve member 8 adapted to engage, when the valve is open, with a fixed member 12, and form a stream line body which tapers out in the direction of flow. The vertical depth of the cap is small in comparison with the total length of the stream line body and has a diameter smaller than the greatest diameter of the fixed member. The valve member slides on a fixed pin 10 and may be loaded by a spring 17. Ports 16 are provided in the fixed member to admit outlet pressure to the back of the valve. A second spring loaded relief valve opening in the opposite direction may be arranged to seat on the valve 8. A valve of the first mentioned type may be inserted between the supercharger and the carburettor while one of the second mentioned type is inserted in the pipe leading to the atmosphere.
